1LT Silver Beaty enlisted in the Montana Army National Guard on 1 July 2009 as a 68W Combat Medic. After completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and Ft. Sam Houston, TX, she was assigned to the 484th Military Police Combat Support Company in Malta, MT, as a platoon medic.
In 2010, she contracted through ROTC at Montana State University, completed her Simultaneous Membership Program as a cadet with the 484th, and commissioned on scholarship in May 2014 as a Military Police Officer, taking her first assignment as a Platoon Leader in the 484th.
1LT Beaty attended Basic Officer Leadership Course in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO in 2015, earning both an Army Achievement Medal and Distinguished Honor Graduate. Upon returning to Montana, she soon became the Executive Officer of the 484th, where she served until 2017. In February 2017, she accepted a transfer to the 143rd Military Police Detachment in Livingston, MT, to serve as the Law Enforcement Operations Officer and Provost Marshal.
In October 2019, 1LT Beaty was selected to command the 143rd Military Police Detachment, where she currently serves, preparing for an upcoming deployment. She recently led her detachment on the Capitol Response activation in Washington D.C. Over the years, 1LT Beaty has taken on several additional duties, including being a state Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) instructor, an Honor Guard member, a Department of Defense Sexual Assault Victim Advocate, and an individual non-lethal weapons instructor. She is also a full-time military technician, serving as the Pre-Mobilization Training Assistance Supervisor at Ft. Harrison, MT. She is the lead of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee in the MTARNG, and most recently, she has established a Women’s Inclusion Committee.
As a side project, she admins and assists with The Army Mom Life Group, a Facebook group dedicated to the mentorship, development, and support of mothers in the Army. She also admins the Military Officer Development Forum on Facebook, another group dedicated to the mentorship of Officers.
1LT Beaty’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Physical Fitness Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.1LT Beaty met her husband, Steve, in the military in 2010. They now have an eight-year-old daughter, McKenna, a three-year-old son, Maxon, and a 2-year-old son, McKoy. They reside in Helena, MT.
