LTC Thelma Piper

LTC Piper enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2000 as a Simultaneous Membership Cadet with the Louisiana Army National Guard (LAARNG). She received her commission in the LAARNG in 2002 at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, as a Military Intelligence (MI) Officer.

MILITARY AND CIVILIAN EDUCATION: LTC Piper earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, LA, and a Master of Arts in Criminology from the University of Houston – Clear Lake in Houston, TX. She completed all coursework toward a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration with a double concentration in Criminal Justice and Terrorism Mediation & Peace from Walden University. LTC Piper is also a graduate of the MI Officer Basic Course, Fort Huachuca, AZ; Defense Language Institute and Language Center, Presidio of Monterey, CA; MI Captain Career Course, Fort Huachuca; Counterintelligence (CI) Special Agent School, Fort Huachuca; the Army Command and General Staff Officers Course, Fort Leavenworth, KS; Reserve Component National Security Course, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington, DC and Defense Strategy Course, United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA.

ASSIGNMENT HIGHLIGHTS LTC Piper’s assignments include Tactical Intelligence Officer, Company C, 415th MI Battalion (BN), French Platoon Leader, Company A, 415th MI BN (Linguist), Assistant S3 Plans Officer, 415th MI BN, Company Commander, Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Collection and Analysis Detachment, 415th MI BN (Interrogation) (I), Watchlist Intelligence Analyst, DIA HQ 1462, Belle Chasse, LA, Policy Analysis Officer, G2, ARNG, Arlington, VA, Special Security Officer, G2, ARNG, Program Manager for FOUNDRY, Intelligence Readiness, G2, ARNG,  Branch Chief, CI/HUMINT Branch (G2X), G2, ARNG, Deputy J2, Joint Force Headquarters, LA National Guard, and  Commander, 415th MI BN.  She deployed three times – in 2005 with the 415th MI BN as an Officer in Charge (OIC), Operational Management Team, and Night OIC, G2X, 4th Infantry Division, Baghdad, Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom; in 2008 with 636th MI BN, TX ARNG as the CI Team Leader, Company A (Fwd), 415th MI BN, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom; and in 2010 with the 415th MI BN as the Deputy J2, Theater Intelligence Group, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force – 435, Joint Interrogation and Debriefing Center, Bagram Airfield.
