MAJ Kimberly Mallard-Brown

Major Kimberly Mallard-Brown is an Army brat who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York, where she commissioned as an Adjutant General Corps Officer in 2010.

Prior to her current assignment as a Defense Fellow, she was stationed in Hawaii, where she served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Indo- Pacific Command (4-star combatant command), as well as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General for the 25th Infantry Division and United States Army Hawaii (2-star command).

Kim’s combat deployment took her to the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters in Kabul,

Afghanistan. There she served as both an Executive Officer and the Aide-de-Camp to the Director of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces Logistics Directorate responsible for overseeing theater-wide logistics advising.

Kim has been the senior human resources officer for a myriad of organizations in Hawaii, Georgia, and South Korea. She returned to USMA as the Southeast Outreach Officer in Admissions and as a Graduate Assistant for the West Point Women’s Basketball Team.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Arabic and Sociology from the United States Military Academy. She received her master’s degree in Legislative Affairs from the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management in the Spring of 2021.

Kim resides in Alexandria, Virginia. She is married to Army Major William “Ryan” Brown— whom she met in the 7th grade—and together they have a fiery 3-year old named Leila. Kim enjoys traveling, volunteering with the Special Olympics, and spending time with her family.
