Major William “Ryan” Brown is a 2012 Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio where he commissioned active duty in the Adjutant General’s Corps. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Texas Lutheran University, a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a secondary Masters of Policy Management from Georgetown University. Major Brown currently serves as the Junior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness via the JCS/OSD/ARSTAF Internship Program.

Major Brown’s previous assignments include Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawaii; Company Commander, U.S. Army Hawaii Replacement Company; Battalion S1/Adjutant, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division; Assistant Brigade S1, 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade; HR Plans & Ops Officer (FWD AF), 4th Special Troops Battalion; Platoon Leader (FWD AF), 502nd Human Resources Company; and Brigade Adjutant, 4th Sustainment Brigade.

Major Brown’s military education includes the Adjutant General’s Corps Officer Advanced and Basic Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Jungle School, Postal Operations Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) Course and Army Combatives Levels 1 & 2.

Major Brown’s notable awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (w/ one bronze oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (w/ one bronze oak leaf cluster), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (w/ two combat service stars), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (w/ one bronze service star) and the NATO Medal.

Major Brown hails from San Antonio, Texas. He is married to the former Kimberly Mallard of San Antonio, Texas, who also currently serves as a Major in the United States Army.  Together they have a daughter, Leila (3).
